Lakeland Motor Museum

Lakeland Motor Museum

Lakeland Motor Museum has over 30.000 exhibits.

Combining lots of separate areas, this is a fantastic day out for the whole family, no matter what the weather!

Heritage centre

The museum is located on the site of the Backbarrow Blue Mill, which closed in the early 1980s. It is best remembered for the manufacture of the washing additive ultramarine pigment, an optical brightening agent often referred to as Dolly Blue. The Leven Valley Heritage Centre is an integral part of an overall amazing experience regarding how life used to be.

How it used to be!

Their displays include a series of faithfully re-created 'How it used to be' shop windows, a bookshop, a shoemaker, a Co-op store, a cycle and accessory centre, a post office, toy and hobby outlet and boutique, each with authentic contents.

Bluebird

Their tribute to the racing Campbells, Sir Malcolm and son Donald, who between them captured 21 world land and water speed records for Great Britain, in the Bluebird series of cars and boats. Highlights include full-size detailed replicas of the 1935 Bluebird car, the 1939 Bluebird boat K4 and the famous jet hydroplane Bluebird K7.

The museum is located adjacent to the A590 at Backbarrow between Newby Bridge and Haverthwaite.
