December is the time for a much-needed change of scenery, and a chance to stretch your legs and explore the wonderful Lake District.
Relax in front of our lounge fires, curl up with a good book, maybe even enjoy a Mulled Wine, this break and the festive atmosphere begins on the 1st December when the Christmas decorations go up.
What can you do in December?
There are lots of things to do in December in the Lake District, from a cruise on the lake to a walk to the top of Orrest Head to enjoy the wonderful vista from the top, from the hotel you can enjoy the walk of the Windermere 3 peaks and of course, you can also simply relax!

Friday & Saturday Dinner Bed and Breakfast is only £169.00 in any room type.

Children under 14 are charged at £35 per night on a bed and breakfast basis. Children under the age of 3 are free. Children over the age of 14 are charged at the full adult rate.

Lindeth Howe is a stunning 35 bedroom hotel on the outskirts of Bowness On Windermere set in 6 acres of gently sloping gardens and with an enviable vista of the hills on the other side of the lake, we have 3 dog-friendly bedrooms, perfect for little furry friends that like to holiday with you. We have a very extensive food offering that we offer around the clock and a great team of chefs in the kitchen that are wondrous at special dietary requirements, and if you are gluten-free, don’t worry you can enjoy a homemade gluten-free scone with your free cream tea!
Breakfast is served daily between 8am and 10am, lunch is available from 12noon until 2pm, afternoon tea from 12noon until 5pm and dinner from 6.30pm until 9pm, light bites are available in the bar from 11am until 10pm and we have a 24-hour room service menu for those midnight snacks!
Our well-stocked bar has a most wonderful barman who is a master at everything from the most obscure cocktails to a simple sweet sherry and with a variety of Gin’s to choose from including our very own local Lakes Gin – one of the only gins in the world to be produced in a world heritage site, what more could you need!
Many of our bedrooms have stunning views across the gardens to the lake, however, please let us know if a view is important to you when you book and we will do our best to accommodate you, although with so much to do in the area, who wants to spend all their time in the room!
