From fascinating facts to top tips, here is what we think you need to know to make the most of the Lake at any time of year.

2- The lake is actually a mere, it is 10.6 miles long, at its widest point it is 1 mile wide and 67 meters at it's deepest.

3- The ancient ruins of Galava Roman fort can be found at the Waterhead end of the lake

5 - If you fancy attempting your own world record during your break in Windermere, it is home to the world stone skimming competition.
